How Much Does it Cost?
2021 Full Membership Dues: $685 per year plus one-time $800 bond fee. Bonded members are guaranteed a space every year. A $50 inactive fee must be paid if you will not be active for a given year.
The bond can be paid in 1 payment of $800 when joining, over 2 years in payments of $400, or over 4 years in payments of $200. The bond is 80% refundable once paid in full. Fully paid bonds can also be transferred in conjunction with the sale of your home in lieu of the refund.
2021 Associate Membership Dues: $900 per year as available. Associate members are not guaranteed a space year to year when the club membership is full.
2021 Additional Membership Options (to be coordinated with Membership Chair):
- Empty Nest Membership (requires approval): $470 + bond

- Charter Membership (no longer available): $480 + bond
2021 Supplemental Fees
- Nanny/Resident Guest: $75
- Guest Passes: $5/each or $20/5 pack
**GUESTS ARE CURRENTLY NOT PERMITTED DUE TO COVID & CAPACITY RESTRICTIONS**
Membership is currently full, but spaces may still open up for 2021. Applications submitted will be processed on a first come, first serve basis.
How do I Decide Which Membership is Right for My Family?
We offer two membership types: Full and Associate.
Full memberships are guaranteed year to year (assuming annual dues are up-to-date). Full members also have the opportunity to vote on club business. This is the most popular and cost-effective option for families in the area long term.
Associate memberships are offered on an “as available” basis. There is no guarantee from year to year on the quantity of Associate memberships available. If you plan to be in the area temporarily (1-2 years), an Associate membership might be the best option. We currently have associate memberships available.
What is the Purpose of the Bond?
Originally bond proceeds were employed as seed money when the club was first founded. Now, they help ensure we have adequate reserves to address the annual maintenance and improvements required of a swim club. Our strong financial position has given us the luxury of not having to raise dues or incur debt when maintenance needs have arisen.
Do I Get Any Portion of the Bond Fee Back When I Resign?
Yes – Eighty percent of the bond price is refundable when you resign (prior to the annual dues due date) and once your bond is purchased by a new member (if purchased in installments, the bond is refundable only once it has been fully paid). Due to strong demand for new memberships, there currently is no waiting list for bond refunds.
Do We Have To Be Members of The Club To Join The Swim Team?
Yes – The swim team is an activity available only to active Tallyho members (Full or Associate).
Besides Swim Team, What Other Activities Offered By The Club?
For 2021, we will work around local county health regulations and with our pool management. However, prior to COVID the following was a usual season at Tallyho:
We kick off with our annual Open House in May.
Our famous potluck picnic celebrations from Noon to 3pm on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day are always popular. Music, games, entrees and drinks are provided. Members bring a side dish or dessert to share.
We also will schedule a number of family movie nights throughout the summer.
We offer tennis programs for players of all ages and skill levels. For the kids, we offer awesome week-long camps (all-day and half-day).
For adults, we offer water aerobics by H2O Fitness. Early Bird lap swim begins in early June and runs through August. We designate 3 lanes exclusively for lap swimming, as long as pool use permits. Regardless of heavy use, whenever the pool is open, at least 2 lanes always are designated for lap swimming.
In addition, we plan to schedule at least one adult party/social this summer.
And every Thursday during the regular season is Float Night, when swimmers bring their favorite lounging floats and everyone enjoys free ice cream floats.
How Long is the Pool Season?
Because our pool is heated, our season lasts longer than most of the pools in this area. We traditionally open before Memorial Day and stay open a full week after Labor Day. At opening now until the end of the MCPS school year, we are open 3 to 8 p.m. M-Th (9 p.m. Fri) and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. Our regular season starts on in mid-June, once MCPS closes, when regular hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
Can I Bring Guests to the Pool? What About Hosting Parties at the Pool?
We will determine 2021 guest rules based on COVID and county health guidelines. Traditionally, however, you may bring guests to swim at Tallyho. There is modest guest fee of $5 per person. Members may host birthday parties and other events at the pool. There is a $50 party fee, plus any appropriate guest fees. A Party Request form must be filled out and submitted so we can ensure proper staffing. The form may be accessed on our website’s Membership Page and Contact Page.
