How Much Does it Cost?

2024 Full Membership Dues: $950 per year plus a one-time non-refundable $1,000 initiation fee.  Full members are guaranteed a space every year.  A $100 inactive fee must be paid if you will not be active for a given year.  You may only go inactive for up to two years at a time.

2024 Seasonal Membership Dues: $1185 per year as available.  Seasonal memberships are not guaranteed a space year-to-year when the club membership is at full capacity.

2024 Additional Membership Options (to be coordinated with Membership Chair):

• Empty Nest Membership (requires approval): $600 + $1,000 initiation fee
  • For households of 1-2 adults, both aged 55+.  Must be requested when completing application.
• Charter Membership (no longer available): $575
• August Swim Pass: $400
  • This pass has availability and is only available to people on the waitlist only, given in priority of waitlist position.  Provides access to the Tallyho pool and tennis courts from August 1st through the end of the season.  Not available to current members, including inactive members.

2024 Supplemental Fees

• Nanny/Resident Guest: $75
• Guest Passes: $5/each or $20/5 pack

How do I Decide Which Membership is Right for My Family?

We offer two primary membership types:  Full and Seasonal.

Full memberships are guaranteed year to year (assuming annual dues are up-to-date). Full members also have the opportunity to vote on club business. This is the most popular and cost-effective option for families in the area long term.

Seasonal memberships are offered on an “as available” basis.  There is no guarantee from year-to-year on the quantity of Seasonal memberships available due to capacity limits and because priority is given to full memberships.  If you plan to be in the area temporarily (1-2 years), a Seasonal membership might be the best option if there is space.

Do We Have To Be Members of The Club To Join The Swim Team?

Yes – The swim team is an activity available only to active Tallyho members (Full or Seasonal).

Besides Swim Team, What Other Activities Offered By The Club?

The pool hosts its famous potluck picnic celebrations from Noon to 3pm on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day.  Music, games, entrees and drinks are provided.  Members can bring a side dish or dessert to share.

We also will schedule a number of activities throughout the summer including family movie nights .

We offer tennis programs for players of all ages and skill levels.  For the kids, we offer awesome week-long camps (all-day and half-day).

We offer pickleball courts to players and a weekly pickleball club.

For adults, early bird lap swim is offered.  We designate 2-3 lanes exclusively for lap swimming, as long as pool use permits.  Regardless of heavy use, whenever the pool is open, at least 2 lanes always are designated for lap swimming.

Food trucks come on select nights to offer our members an array of delicious meal and snack options.

How Long is the Pool Season?

Because our pool is heated, our season lasts longer than most of the pools in this area. We traditionally open before Memorial Day and stay open a full week after Labor Day. At opening now until the end of the MCPS school year, we are open 3 to 8 p.m. M-Th (9 p.m. Fri)  and 11 a.m. to 9  p.m. on weekends.  Our regular season starts on in mid-June, once MCPS closes, when regular hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

Can I Bring Guests to the Pool?  What About Hosting Parties at the Pool?

You may bring guests to swim at Tallyho.  There is modest guest fee of $5 per person.  Members may host birthday parties and other events at the pool.  There is a party fee required to reservation the pool.  A Party Request form must be filled out and submitted so we can ensure proper staffing.  The form may be accessed on our website’s Membership Page and Contact Page.

Bond Information for Memberships Opened 1968 – 2023

Originally. bond proceeds were employed as seed money when the club was first founded. The club voted to transition from a bond to an initiation fee beginning with the 2024 season. Members that join for the 2024 season or later do not receive a bond. Members that joined as full memberships, empty nest memberships, or charter memberships in 2023 or before may be eligible, at the discretion of the Board of Directors, to an 80% bond refund upon resignation if the bond has been paid in full. In order to be eligible for a bond refund the refund must be requested prior to the annual dues due date and the bond must have been fully paid before the end of the prior season.
